Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Our world has been turned upside down since Covid -19 has entered our lives. Our foremost concern is that our members and their families stay safe during this extremely trying time.
It has affected the workings of the FOP. Our State Convention and elections, scheduled for this coming October, has been canceled. The State Executive Board has voted to continue all elected board members for another two years due to size restrictions on gatherings in New York.
On the local front, Lodge 81 had to cancel our planned family outing to the Long Island Ducks baseball game in August. We are committed to scheduling an outing during their 2021 season and look forward to a great turnout by our members and their families.
The National FOP currently has a ban on local Lodge meetings. We are hopeful that the ban will be lifted and we can schedule a meeting in September or October. Our Lodge Holiday Party is still scheduled for December 2020. Further information will be emailed to our members and posted on our Lodge 81 website.
Our Lodge has not remained idle. We have seen increased membership, both by former members returning to our Lodge as well as new members, active and associates. Several members of other state lodges have approached us to transfer into our Lodge in 2021. We look forward to active participation from our newest members. There is strength in numbers!
We are actively seeking guest speakers to bring informative information to our members and planning events in 2021 for our members.
We remain hopeful that Lodge 81 will continue to strive to be the best. Our Executive Board is committed to making your membership as enjoyable and productive as possible.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you might have. Please stay safe!
Fraternally,
Henry Prins
President

REST IN PEACE
As per FOP Lodge 81 Member, Mike Bannon's request, For all of the members of Lodge 81 to say a prayer for his beloved wife, Donna Bannon who recently passed away after a long battle with Cancer.
Our FOP Lodge 81 Chaplain, Eugene A. Clemonms III has written a prayer which I will post on our Lodge website.
Mourning practices should be extensive, but not an expression of fear or distaste for death. Mourning practices relating to death and mourning have two purposes: to show respect for the dead, and to comfort the living, who will miss the deceased.
Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. The troubles of my heart are enlarged. Bring me out of my distresses. Look upon my afflictions and my troubles and forgive my sins. Psalm 25:16-18
So let us pass through the times of sorrow and now remember all those that have been lost for whatever reason, be it health or duty.
For our memories of the Blessings they have placed within our hearts will carry us through the hours of tomorrow.
Love & Blessings;
Eugene A. Clemoms III
Chaplain

We are proud to introduce, The Arbors, an assisted living community that offers discounted benefits to
veterans and first responders.
The Arbors offers a program created by the Department of Veterans Affairs for wartime veterans and their surviving spouses. This program helps make assisted living an affordable option to many seniors who may have thought it was not possible.

As President of Lodge 81, I am always strieving to be the best avocate for the FOP (Fraternal Order of Police),
Recently, I donated a pair of my personal Mets Season Tickets to a worthy cause for a fellow co-worker at LIMA, Steve Russell in honor of his Mother for his TEAM LIMA's 3rd Annual Lauren Kristy 'CRUISE (AGAINST) CANCER' on Sunday, August 11, 2013.
I received a 'THANK YOU' letter from Steve which I would like to share to all Lodge 81 members:
To my friend John A. Mattia;
On August 11th we set sail on the Lauren Kristy in an effort to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.
Thanks to you, it was a successful sunset/dinner cruise for my guests. Your generous donation to our raffle basket auction was instrumental in raising much needed funds going towards the constant research being conducted in an attempt to find a cure for this deadly disease.
Your contribution was acknowledged in our program.
As the organizer of "A Cruise Against Cancer", I wish to thank you very much for supporting my efforts.
Yours truly,
Steven Russell

Solemn Ceremony Honors Fallen Police Officers
A ceremony at the Fraternal Order of Police headquarters in Hicksville honored officers who lost their lives.
The NYSAFE Act protects the privacy of pistol license holders by permitting them to notify a County Clerk that they do not wish for their information to be released publicly.
Under the law, current licensees and new applicants may make this notification to their licensing officer using a form approved by the Superintendent of the New York State Police.
Pistol permit information held by the county is currently exempt from FOIL and will be until May 15, 2013. At that time, those who have submitted the form will remain exempt from the FOIL provisions unless the licensing authority has refused to grant the exemption. Those wishing to apply for the exemption should do so by May 15, 2013, to avoid any disclosure.
You may file the form anytime. However, after May 15, 2013, if you have not yet filed an exemption form, your information may be subject to release under FOIL.
If you file a form in the future and your request is granted, your information will once again be exempt from FOIL.
To submit your form, take it to your local licensing office.
