FOUNDING
A few years ago, the current President of our Association, John A. Mattia, gave everyone the opportunity to meet new people and share ideas in a constructive manner. The Association quickly turned into an important part of our members' lives!
History of the Fraternal Order of Police
In 1915, the life of a policeman was bleak. In many communities they were forced to work 12 hour days, 365 days a year. Police officers didn't like it, but there was little they could do to change their working conditions. There were no organizations to make their voices heard; no other means to make their grievances known.
HISTORY OF LODGE 81
In 1998, Gary Gilbert and Larry Sullivan started lodge 81 after not receiving proper treatment from another very large lodge in NY. We wanted to be there for our members and to do things for the community, with the help of Mike Macri and Frank Maneri we started the lodge with the four becoming the executive board.
We started with 27 members and have expanded 10 times since then, and have given ourselves to the charities of the community. To date we have around 160 members and are made up of all law enforcement from all departments.
